Barcelona begin search for new signing following Hansi Flick request

Barcelona has succeeded in freeing considerable space in their wage account in the last 48 hours, thanks to Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Inigo Martinez. The first has signed the medical documentation with which Barcelona Joan Garcia would enable his place to register, while the veteran defender leaves to become a member of Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr.

These two movements should enable Barcelona to register the vast majority of players whose registrations are still being treated, and with the expectation that further outputs will be agreed in the coming weeks, the door could be opened for a fourth signing of the summer transfer window – after Garcia, Roony Bardghji and Marcus Rashford.

Hansi Flick would welcome another addition and he communicated this to Deco. According to the sport, the Barcelona sports director has now started searching for this.

Flick is aware that it might not be possible for another signature to arrive because of the club's financial misery, but he has asked Deco to make preparations in case it is feasible. In particular, he wants a new central defender to replace Martinez, but the player in question must also be able to work as a full-back.

Earlier in the summer, reports emerged that Flick wanted Barcelona to sign a new full-back this summer, although it soon became clear that it was unlikely that his request would be fulfilled because of Deco that gave priority to the arrival of a keeper (Garcia) and Left Winger (Rashford). But now that a leeway has been made, there is a chance that something can be done.

For now, the most important thing for Barcelona is to return to the rule of La Liga 1: 1, making it easier for another signature and the respective registration, which must be done before the summer transfer window closes at the beginning of September.
