Barcelona has to raise money in the coming weeks to be able to register Joan Garcia and Nico Williams with La Liga, and the Catalans have already drawn up several players as candidates to leave. Among them is Andreas Christensen, whose exit would mean that Ronald Araujo will stay at least one season.
Araujo has had 12 months. He missed the entire first half of last season because of a serious hamstring injury, and on return to action he had difficulty reaching the levels of fellow center-backs Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez. And as a result, he was often gained for important competitions.
This has led to rumors about a possible departure, but Barcelona Sporting Director Deco has closed this option. He was Araujo to stay, and as such this Christensen pushed to the starting door.
But according to MD, this opinion is not shared on a large scale within Can Barca. There are some members of the Barcelona board who would welcome the sale of Arajo, whose release clause from 1 to 15 July will be € 60 million.
Araujo itself has no plans to leave Barcelona, and he started working early to get himself in the best possible condition before the start of the preseason. He sees himself very much as being able to return to the regular starting line-up for the 2025-26 campaign.
There is no doubt that a large sale of money like Araujo Barcelona would help enormously, although there is a conviction that the funds needed to register Garcia and Williams can be generated without it leaving. Instead, there are several candidates to continue, including people like Christensen, Pablo Torre and Ansu Fati.
