Barcelona 4-1 Girona
Barcelona started well against Girona and created several opportunities early on, but the will of Fermin Lopez, Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal twice not the most out of their shooting options. Despite some magic Lamine Yamal -moments, Girona defended better by the time the break was approaching, so it was admitted in the last minute such a shame.
The 17-year-old hit in a free kick and after a deflection of the stomach of Ladislav Krejci, the ball bounced into the net. Girona looked dangerous in times, but could not have found the last pass. With their first chance of the game, Arnaut Danjuma, however, used Girona, who had the ball back from a high press and ended up one-on-one with Wojciech Szczesny in the corner. Danjuma stood against the Run of Play just after the break.
Jules Kounde's cross-shot was painful between the post and Robert Lewandowski, a memory of Barcelona's danger, but Girona was currently competing well and sometimes pushed higher. On the hourly trip Eric Garcia curled an seemingly imperative effort from the post from outside the box, because both parties looked at the pace.
However, that was a sign of things that come, and in the 63rd minute Lewandowski had the home team in front again. Fermin found a ball to the back post, whose header ran to the rear pole. Between two defenders and the goalkeeper, Lewandowski managed to hook the ball on the volley through the legs of Gazzaniga.
Portu and Danjuma started to deal with the defense of Barcelona, but Girona could not manage the risks that an increased attacking impetus brought. Frenkie de Jong came from the couch and showed a new set of heels in the midfield of Girona, drove forward and laid in Lewandowski for a nice finish on the left side of the box.
Gerard Martin would now enjoy the break and would offer a cutback for another replacement, Ferran Torres, to control and finish with his left of Net in the box. There was time for a few more attacks, and the best effort came from Lamine Yamal, who hit the bottom of the bar.
The Blaugrana takes a three -point lead over Real Madrid at the top of the table, in a victory that was not always comfortable, but again showed their depth and their attacking bravery. They achieved 17 victories and three draws in 2025. On the other side of the comparison, Girona now seven games without a victory and will be grateful that the seven -point gap for the relegation zone has not been reduced.
