Barcelona captain Marc-Andre ter Stegen opens up on separation from wife and media reporting

Barcelona captain Marc-Andre ter Stegen has explained that the damage was caused by the reporting of his divorce of wife Dani Ter Stegen (no Jehle) remains irreparable. The German keeper announced his farewell to Dani's ways in March and asked for privacy, but shortly thereafter it was reported that the motive was Jehle's unfaithfulness.

During an interview with Bild worn by El Desmarque, Ter Stegen explained that the whole situation was tragic.

“I think it is tragic that such accusations are made without any consideration. The person most affected by this was of course Dani, and I felt sorry for her because she did not deserve it. It is completely disrespectful, and I think it is absurd that these people were ashamed of crossing such a line, especially children.”

Ter Stegen then went to social media to publicly deny their claims and called the journalists involved. He mentioned the reports false news and immediately denied that Dani was romantically involved with someone else. The journalists involved would then offer an apology the following days.

“This is a small first step in the right direction. The fact that we have received so much positive feedback about our answer does not make me happy at all. In the end it was completely inappropriate. It remains irreparable.”

In the meantime, the 32-year-old explained that Dani and his two children, Ben and Tom, currently all live in Barcelona.

“We have two fantastic children and find the right fit for our new situation. Dani and the children still live here. We currently live five minutes away from each other, which is clearly perfect for me. I see the children every day, and as long as it continues, I will be the happiest person in the world.”

Ter Stegen injured most of this season after a horrible knee problem in September that surgery required. The captain of Blaugrana recently returned to the training after six months of rehabilitation and wants to come back before the end of the season. He will have to convince the manager Hansi Flick that he must first drop Wojciech Szczesny.
