Barcelona confident of returning to Spotify Camp Nou on schedule

One of the big points of talks in recent months with regard to Barcelona has been the continuous construction of the new Spotify Camp Nou. The club had now been hoping to be back in their home stadium, but because of countless delays they are still playing their matches in the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Company in Montjuic.

Initially, Barcelona had planned to be back in the Spotify Camp Nou for the last few games of 2024, but that was considered impossible. The return date was then pushed back to February, but again, the first team will not be back at the moment.

Although this has not had much of a sporting effect, it has more than expected from the Spotify Camp Nou, which Barcelona has lost in the income of millions of euros. There is a big wish to be back at the end of the season, and as things stand, that should be the case.

According to Relo, the first team of Barcelona is expected to return to the Spotify Camp Nou before the beginning of May – it comes after Joan Sentelles, head of operations of the Espai Barça project, told the media that the project must be completely finished in 2026.

“It is a huge challenge to build this stadium. We all see it. It is a pride to build the best stadium in the world. The first calendar has not changed and we will end the works in June 2026.

“We are working on interior design and various installations of the first and second rows. The idea is to end the VIP rings in December this year with 90% capacity now in both the first and the second rows. In August 2026 we already have a capacity of 104,600 spectators to start the 2026-2027 season. “

If this timeline eventually flourishes, the first game of Barcelona in the Spotify Camp Nou would be against Real Madrid in the second El Clasico meeting of the season in La Liga, which can be a crucial for the title race.
