Barcelona confirm sale of 21-year-old midfielder

Barcelona and RCD Mallorca have announced the signing of Pablo Torre for Los Bermellones, with the 22-year-old more opportunities looking for Camp Nou. In his third year, Torre had shown flashes of his quality in Barcelona, but fought for minutes.

This season Torre contributed directly to seven goals in just 421 minutes, spread over 14 performances and generally performed well under Hansi Flick. But with Gavi and Fermin Lopez for him when Dani Olmo was not available, he was on the outside. He leaves Barcelona after five goals, four assists and 27 performances in three years, one of which was spent on loan in Girona.

The deal will be worth a reported € 5 million, with Barcelona retaining a 50% sale. The Blaugrana also has a return option, a right of first refusal to Torre and a percentage of future profit. Torre has a release clause of € 25 million in Mallorca. As it looks now, Barcelona has made a loss of € 1 million about what they have paid Racing Santander, but they will be sure that they make a profit.

Torre had attracted a lot of interest and in the past six months Porto, Benfica Valencia and Real Betis were linked to him. He explained why he had decided to join Mallorca.

“From the moment I spoke to Jagoba for the first time [Arrasate] and Pablo [Ortells] In a video call that we had while I was at the European Championships, they gave me a lot of confidence. I needed it. I felt that this could be very good, and I am very happy to be here, “he told the RCD Mallorca website.

'[My first conversations with Arrasate were] Very good. He gave me a bit of his idea of the game. Eventually I love football and I know the players here, who are of a very high level. “
