Barcelona considering one move in January transfer window

Barcelona are again over the salary cap, despite claims from club chiefs, and will have little room to maneuver in the January transfer market. Their priority will be to sign Dani Olmo and Pau Victor after using the emergency injury rule in the summer.

The Blaugrana have signed a new sponsorship deal with Nike, but it appears this will still not be enough to put the Catalan giants in the black in terms of their salary cap. In addition to guaranteeing that Olmo and Victor can play in the second half of the season, Barcelona will look to force extensions for Pedri and Gavi, and if they have room in their salary cap, they will register those deals immediately.

The only player who could make it in or out of the squad could be Ansu Fati, says Sport. The 22-year-old forward has seen his season decimated by injuries again, although he was not given many opportunities before going down during the recent international break. If he wants to leave on loan for more minutes, he can do so, even if his latest injury has generated some interest. Seville is one of the few options on the table.

Barcelona have generally made full use of the winter transfer window during President Joan Laporta's second spell in power, but in this case it looks like it will be a quiet period. Mainly because they don't have much choice. Sporting director Deco would already insist on two new full-backs and a left winger next summer.
