Barcelona struggles for options prior to Thursday's game against Osasuna, and another seems to have fallen along the road in the last 24 hours.
The unusual kick -off date, which was created after the original competition between the two teams was postponed due to the sudden death of Barcelona Doctor Carles Minarro Garcia, has thrown a key in the work for the Catalan side, which will be confronted with a debilitating diagram in the coming weeks.
Pau Cubarsi is a doubt for the competition after tracing an injury while they have an international service with Spain with Spain, while Raphinha and Ronald Arajo are also expected to miss both because of their respective countries less than 48 hours prior to the kick -off at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Company.
However, Barcelona had some hope that Arajo could play at least after it turned out that Uruguay head coach Marcelo Bielsa is considering resting the defender for their 2026 World Cup qualification against Bolivia. But it has now been confirmed that this will not happen, according to MD.
Araujo has been appointed in the 26-man team who will travel to La Paz, and if he plays a significant part of the game, it would be a big surprise to see him start for Barcelona two days later, although he is expected to be back in the Catalan capital with the time to be kicked off.
Due to the debilitating run with which Barcelona is confronted, head coach Hansi Flick will gladly not take a risk of being over -playing Araujo, who has sustained several muscle injuries in recent years.
This means that Flick will probably only have Eric Garcia and Inigo Martinez, who has just returned from a knee injury, as an options to start in central defense against Osasuna. Needless to say, it is far from ideal for Barcelona.
