Barcelona hopes to discharge several players this summer and if there is one position in which they are well filled, it is in central defense. With five players who are already in their books for this season, the opportunities that Clement Lenglet returned to the club in the summer already slim.
Lenglet was on loan in Atletico Madrid this season and was largely impressed by several penalties in a short time until the past few weeks. Already in January it was reported that Los Rojiblancos wanted to hold Lenglet and had opened conversations with Barcelona about this issue, although both parties were far apart on his appreciation.
At the time, Atletico reportedly offered € 5 million, while Barcelona hoped for double that amount for the 29-year-old. Sport says that Lenglet Barelona has told now that it is his intention to stay in the Metropolitano next season, which will weaken the negotiating position of Blaugrana. Al-Nassr alone has asked about the Frenchman, and if Lenglet is adamant to go back to Atletico, then Barcelona will leave in a difficult situation because they do not want to continue to pay his salary.
Los Rojiblancos apparently feels that they can get Lenglet almost free, if not for free, and will persist in negotiations, knowing that Lenglet wants to stay in Madrid. The Catalan giants reportedly expanded his contract last summer until 2028 to reduce his impact on their salary limit and currently pay 75% of his wages. Barcelona is the feeling that he has raised his value this season, but will have little option if he does not open up to other offers.
However, they want to say goodbye to Lenglet this summer, after three years on loan in Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and now Atletico. This season he has characterized 30 times for Atletico, with 2,516 minutes for Diego Simeone. He fought with Star Summer who signs Robin Le Normand for a start spot too.
