Barcelona €2m away from sealing agreement for 19-year-old forward

Barcelona is aware that funds must be collected to register their new signing sessions at La Liga for the 2025-26 season, and after they have already brought in funds through countless outputs, there could be more on the road.

Last week Jan Virgili was omitted from the Barcelona team for the pre-season tour through Japan and South Korea, despite the fact that they were impressed during the first team training. After he understood that he would play with Barca Atleti for the 2025-26 campaign, he communicated his desire to leave.

And with that decision that is made, he has attracted strong interest – especially from Mallorca. A deal has been discussed, where Barcelona is open to the sale of the 19-year-old winger. However, another agreement must be reached.

According to the sport, Barcelona asks for € 4 million to sell Virgili, while they also demand that they retain a 50% clause. Mallorca has accepted the latter, but at this stage they are also willing to reach € 2 million.

Mallorca has already signed Pablo Torre from Barcelona this summer and has paid € 5 million on that occasion. They do not believe that Virgili is worth € 4 million, since he never played in La Liga and has only made 17 performances in the first federation with Barca Atletic. But they do believe in his potential, so they are willing to pay € 2 million.

Mallorca would also be open to a loan for Virgili, and they have previously suggested this. However, Barcelona prioritizes a sale because of their need to raise money, so for now this option is not on the table.

It is still to be seen whether an agreement between Barcelona and Mallorca can be reached. It has been reported that Saudi Arabia is also interested in Virgili, so this can put pressure on the latter during the negotiations.
