Barcelona has already completed their first signing of the summer in mid -June and brought Joan Garcia from Bitter Rivals Espanyol to an amount of € 25 million. In the meantime, they have shown full confidence in public that they have both funds to pay the release clause from Nico Williams and the possibility to register him this summer.
However, if it was all that simple, the deal would probably already be closed. Barcelona tries to prevent Williams from starting the preseason with Athletic Club and tries to give the Basque winger guarantees to convince him to give the green light to the deal.
According to Diario AS, Barcelona currently has € 30 million shortage of sufficient space in their salary limit to register both new signing sessions. That space can be cleared by the money they earn with the sale of players and the money they save in salaries. This figure would include the impact of the lease of € 100 million VIP seats, if Auditors Crowe has validated the sale in their accounts. The initial figure was € 47 million, but the money earned from sales costs and sales for Alex Valle, Jean Clair Todibo, Ilaix Moriba, Ludovit Reis and Ferran Jutgla.
With the exception of the move from Ousmane Dembele to Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona has made few sales in recent years that have left important costs. This summer it was initially expected that Frenkie de Jong could provide a reasonable fee, and then both Ronald Araajo and Fermin Lopez were advertised as potential outputs, but neither of the players would like to leave.
Barcelona still has several players they intend to continue this summer, such as Pablo Torre, Inaki Pena, Oriol Romeu, Andreas Christensen and Pau Victor that they are planning to continue, but it is not clear how much they will bring for them, or in the case of Christensen, or he will be convinced to leave.
