Barcelona was in a hot chase of Espanyol -goalkeeper Joan Garcia last week, but their hope was interrupted in the last 24 hours. The Catalan goalkeeper was supposedly to move to Newcastle United, but reports in England say that he is not their top priority.
The Blaugrana agreed the conditions with the agent of Garcia and have set a contract offer on the table for Garcia, who is ready to meet his agents on Friday to continue with regard to his future. There was also a war war in the Catalan capital, in which Espanyol manager was assured that Garcia will not move to Barcelona, while Garcia himself refused to exclude a switch to their most bitter rivals.
On Wednesday evening, it was reported late that Garcia was most interested in moving to Newcastle, where he has a chance to be number one. DM, however, says that the top choice of Newcastle is James Trafford for the goalkeeper position, and that they are expected to make an offer for the Burnley Shotstopper.
In the meantime in Catalonia, the word that Garcia guarantees is that he will be the starting goalkeeper if he wants to make a switch to Barcelona. That may well require an output for Captain Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, or a difficult banking. Until Barcelona makes a difficult choice, they can still look on the outside.
In the meantime, Manchester United are also ready for conversations with Garcia. If the 24-year-old is desperate on football in the first team, the Red Devils may be one of the options that suits him best, with Andre Onana being probably replaced this summer. Aston Villa, who is also related to Garcia in the past, also looks like they are going further from Emiliano Martinez.
