Barcelona have ‘deeply annoyed’ transfer target with low-ball offer

Bayer Leverkusen Left-back Alejandro Grimaldo has made it completely clear that he is enthusiastic about moving to Spain, with all three giants of La Liga looking at him. It was recently revealed that Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Barcelona can bring him all cheaply.

Grimaldo has publicly admitted that he would like to move to a large club in Spain, and this week it was revealed that his release clause at Leverkusen is somewhere between € 15 million and € 18 million, a relatively bargain for the Spain International. Real Madrid reportedly considered him an alternative to Alvaro Carreras if the left back of Benfica turns out to be too expensive and Atletico has also shown interest in him.

Although they have Gerard Martin and Alejandro Bange as their now established options at left back, the Blaugrana also apparently love Grimaldo, which means that he is seen as true money. Joan Fontes explains that Barcelona had contact with Grimaldo during a return to the club he came through, but that their offer was so low that Grimaldo was thoroughly irritated by their proposal.

Balde was back to the form that showed so much promise this season, and there were doubts about Martin's ability to cut it at the highest level. Apparently Hansi Flick is now comfortable with Martin as the alternative to Baldo, although Grimaldo would be an upgrade. Whether it is useful for their budget and the best use of their funds is an open debate.

Atletico is perhaps the side that makes sense for Grimaldo. Although Diego Simeone has often preferred more defensive full-backs, the starting point is open in the midst of doubts above Javi Galan and Reinildo Mandava. Grimaldo is also more than capable as a wingback, when Simeone returns to three at the back.
