Barcelona interested in orchestrating re-signing of defender for €10m
One way or another, Oscar Mingueza's future is expected to be resolved during next summer's transfer window. The 25-year-old defender has had a strong start to the 2024-2025 season and although he has held his tail in recent weeks, he remains an in-demand player.
Celta currently have Mingueza on their books, although they only own half of his rights. They want to acquire the remaining 50% from Barcelona, which has already been informed of this, according to MD. Celta also wants to offer him a new contract, as his existing new one expires at the end of next season.
According to the report, Barcelona are very relaxed about the situation as they believe they are in an advantageous position. They can re-sign Mingueza for 10 million euros because they own 50% of his rights (his release clause for Celta is 20 million euros), and that is something they have been thinking about in recent months.
