Barcelona no longer has faith in their chances of signing Nico Williams for Athletic Club. Because the Basque wing player expressed the wish to move to the Blaugrana, they are convinced that the signing would continue this summer.
This is after a long -term chase by Williams last summer, but in that case Barcelona persuaded him to leave athletically. This time Williams actively pursued the move and the Catalan giants were on their way to pay his release clause of € 58 million. Agent Felix Tainta, however, has asked for guarantees that Barcelona can register Williams, something that has stalled the deal.
Barcelona has tried to ensure Williams and Tainta that they can get the deal and register it later in the summer, but Marca now says that they are not so sure that the deal will continue. A few days ago there was optimism in the Catalan capital, but that has disappeared somewhat.
The Blaugrana remains over their salary limit and must pay athletics his release clause of € 60 million before he also registers the salary of Williams.
