Barcelona are nervously awaiting La Liga and the RFEF's ruling on the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, having submitted what they believe are all the necessary documents to have them available again. However, they rely on an exception to the rule, where both players have not registered and the deadline has passed.
In theory, both players can leave the club for free on the last day of the transfer window, as without registration they are no longer the owners of their rights. Despite the club saying they are not considering any other scenario that does not end with them both being registered, Sport say they are making contingency plans.
Their information is that Barcelona will offer both Olmo and Victor a mutual termination of their contracts. However, they would then agree that the same contracts would start again on July 1, 2025, when the transfer window reopens. This would allow both players to find new teams for the next six months and continue playing before returning to Barcelona – with the Blaugrana desperate not to lose either player for good.
This clearly requires the agreement and willingness of both players to commit their future to Barcelona, foregoing significant amounts of money. Both could negotiate as free agents if they choose to unilaterally terminate their deals, which they legally could. There are conflicting reports on whether they would keep their salaries, but most reports claim that Barcelona would pay out their full contracts. It should be noted that Olmo's agent, Andy Bara, has publicly stated that they are not negotiating with anyone else and that his client's intention is to remain at the club.
