Barcelona make embarrassing mistake as Premier League transfer costs them millions

Barcelona has missed in cash that he received £ 8.5 million after the former midfielder Nico Gonzalez had arrived at Manchester City from Porto.

Gonzez, 23, completed a relocation of £ 50 million to City on the Deadline Day of the Transfer, with a contract of four and a half years with the Premier League champions. The Spanish midfielder left Barca for Porto in 2023, with De La Liga Giants negotiating a 40 percent sold out clause and the option to sign him again for £ 25 million.

Prior to the move from Gonzalez to the city, Porto has, however, exercised a clause that reduced Barcelona's reduction in any reimbursement to only 20 percent and also canceled their option to sign it again. That means that Barca has only received £ 10 million from the move from Gonzalez to the city on Monday, half of what they would initially receive.

Porto, however, has paid Barca £ 2.5 million to change the sales clause. In a statement, the Portuguese heavyweights explained: “The club has exercised an option in advance to buy 20% of the capital profits of a transfer for a value of € 3 million (£ 2.4 million).

“That also canceled the option to sign the player that Barcelona had for a value of € 30 million (£ 25 million), exercising until June. 30, 2025. Barca retained the right to 20% of the capital wins.”

Gonzalez joined the famous Academy of Barca in 2013 and made 37 first team performances. Stadsbaas Pep Guardiola was aware of his talents at a young age, after leaving Barcelona in 2012.

The 23-year-old was the fourth and final signing of City of the winter transfer window, so that their expenses brought an eye-watery £ 180 million. “This is the perfect opportunity for me in this phase of my career. I want to test myself in England. There is no better club than Manchester City for me to do that,” Gonzalez said after completing his move.

“There is no football player in the world who would not want to be part of this setup. I know the reputation that Pep has and I can't wait to work with him. I am actually honored that he wants me to play in his team . “

The former Spain Under-21 International scored seven goals and this season registered five assists in 29 performances for Porto. Gonzalez, mainly a profound midfielder, likes to get ahead and contributes to attack, something that will almost certainly be demanded of him under Guardiola in the Etihad.

Gonzalez was able to make his debut for City in the FA Cup on Saturday fourth round to Leyton Orient of League One-Kant.
