Due to the ongoing registration procedure, Barcelona will have to play Wednesday's Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Club without Dani Olmo and Pau Victor. The pair were also absent against Barbastro on Saturday and although they were not missed then, they are most likely in Saudi Arabia.
There has been a lot of talk about the issue over the past two weeks, and according to MD, Hansi Flick has admitted that it has been difficult for him and his players to deal with.
“It is not an easy situation for us. It's hard not to have them because they are two important players. We know Dani Olmo is an excellent player and of course we miss him very much, but we have to keep going. Of course it will affect us, but it unites us as a team and we have to show that we are a team.”
Earlier in the press conference, Raphinha admitted that he believes that it could be more difficult for Barcelona to entice players to sign because of this case, and Flick also gave his opinion on this matter.
“I don't know. But I definitely knew when I was in this situation, and I knew very well what was happening. I was going to sign anyway.”
Barcelona could have Olmo and Victor available for Sunday's final (against Real Madrid/Mallorca) if they get there, although that is highly unlikely. Understandably, things have been difficult for Flick and co. to deal with, even if they can't let it affect them too much.
