Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has admitted that he is not particularly amused with the handling of the club of players' registrations. While the La Liga champions are approaching their first game of the season, the Blaugrana have six players who have not yet been registered.
Last season, Flick was also without Dani Olmo for the first two games of the season, while Barcelona had trouble registering their new signing of the star. This year the situation has repeated itself, with Joan Garcia that still has to be registered, and Barcelona probably relies on the injury rule to make it happen.
It was at the top of the top of the media agenda when Flick explained that he was not completely satisfied with the situation.
“For me it is a situation that does not make me too happy. I trust the club; we have to wait until tomorrow. Last season was also like that. We concentrate on what is in our hands. That is all I have to say about it,” he said when he has printed on player registrations a second time.
He was later asked if he had always had such reserves of patience, or if it was something he developed in Barcelona.
“(Laughs) … I think it's good to improve your entire life, so I want to get better in these things.”
In the meantime, one of the hot topics in the Spanish media was the 'USA game' this week, with the RFEF approved a proposal to organize the home collision of Villarreal with Barcelona in Miami. A major criticism has been produced. Flick was asked if he felt that Barcelona would achieve a competitive advantage of it, because Villarreal would lose their home game.
“I don't know what to say, I haven't thought about it yet. We don't even know if it will happen, I don't spend time on it. I just focused on the next game.”
In the meantime, Flick was optimistic about the coming season, and noticed that the goal was to keep improving, instead of winning specific titles.
“We will see what happens in the second season. What I can say is that we work very hard. The quality in training is what we were looking for; we want to continue at the same level. Three titles is not the end, it is the start. We want to improve. It is about maintaining a winning mentality, and we are on the right track.”
Barcelona travel to RCD Mallorca in their first game of the season at Son Moix, kicked off planned for 19:30 CEST.
