La Blaugrana is regularly linked to putting together a plan to sign their biggest player ever, but no deal has never been closed.
In anticipation of his move to Inter Miami in the summer of 2023, Barcelona reached contact with Messi, but there was no feasible way to get it back.
Messi continues to show his ability to compete with his MLS career that continues nicely prior to an important decision about his plan to stay in Florida.
His current deal in Miami runs until December 2025 – in line with the MLS season – and he wants to expand his band to lead in Argentina during FIFA World Cup 2026 in North America.

According to reports from TNT Sports Argentina journalist Maximiliano Grillo, Barcelona has made initial contacts in the Messi camp, as part of an orchestrated movement.
Barcelona knows that Messi will not break his contract in Miami, so there is no chance of a deal before 2026, and they cannot afford transfer costs.
The report claims that Barcelona will try to bring Messi 'home' prior to the 2026/27 season – with the veteran at that time 39 – as part of their plan to stimulate the opening of a renewed Camp Nou.
Barcelona is hopeful that they can play in their iconic house next season, but the beginning of 2026/27 would give the club the chance to show the new Arena.
