Barcelona is preparing to double their attitude about the future of Wojciech Szczesny in the club in 2025.
Since the beginning of 2025, Hansi Flick seems to have torn his original plan for the Polish veteran, because he now seems to be his first choice in goal.
The former boss of Bayern Munich had indicated that his intention was to start Szczesny in European action with Inaki Pena as his competition no. 1.
However, that changed last month, despite some very questionable versions of the former Arsenal stop in several competitions.
He admitted a penalty and clattered in Alejandro Bangde to allow another goal, in the Wild UEFA Champions League win at Benfica, but Flick stayed with him.
Things have improved somewhat, with five consecutive starts and back-to-back clean sheets against Alaves and Valencia in La Liga and the Copa del Rey.
The switch has caused frustration for Pena, who is said to reconsider his intentions to sign a contract extension because of a 'broken promise' of Flick.
On the other hand, Szczesny was able to see his own band extend beyond the current campaign, with the club preparing in the coming weeks to open extensions.
According to the newest update of Diario Sport, the current SZCZYNY's current outcome affects at the end of the 2024/25 season, but Barcelona wants to increase that until June 2026, because Marc -Andre ter Stegen feels his way back in action after a long injury lay – out.
There is no immediate haste about a renewal, in which Szczesny is not in line to receive other offers from rival clubs, and Barcelona focused on the seasonal run.
The 34-year-old is expected to start between the posts in Barcelona's Weekend La Liga trip to Sevilla, while Pena reflects when his next chance arrives under Flick and Szczesny will continue to grab his unexpected opportunity for La Blaugrana.
