Barcelona present case for Dani Olmo registration – will asset sale for €80m less depending on result

Barcelona are relaxed about the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, who must be re-registered for the second half of the season in the next eight days or they will not be able to play the rest of the season. In Olmo's case, this would mean that he could also leave the club for free.

But Sport says they are calm, the players think, because they have plans. Today they filed a lawsuit, claiming that Olmo and Victor's right to work should trump all rules of the competition. They did the same with Gavi after he signed a new contract, and a decision will be made on December 27.

The difference is that La Liga will defend itself in this case, unlike the Gavi case. Barcelona have agreed a new sponsorship deal with Nike and believed this would be enough to increase their salary cap to register both, following advice from La Liga. But Barcelona believe the pressure from Sevilla, Atletico Madrid and Athletic Club has told League president Javier Tebas.

They have supposedly asked Tebas to close the loophole that allows Barcelona to register players, and the Catalan giants suspect this is the problem behind the change in tone.
