Barcelona President Joan Laporta disputes Javier Tebas words over 1:1 rule

Less than 24 hours after La Liga-President Javier Tebas claimed that Barcelona was not covered by their salary limit, and by proxy, in the so-called '1: 1 spending rule', Barcelona Chief Joan Laporta disputed that idea directly. After making sounds about possible signing sessions, Laporta told the Senate of Barcelona that they were indeed under the aforementioned rule.

On Wednesday, Barcelona confirmed the signing of Joan Garcia van Espanyol, after his release clause of € 25 million. Tebas was optimistic about their ability to register Garcia, but told the press that the Blaugrana should make the sale to close a deal and then register athletic club wing Nico Williams. Something Laporta does not agree with.

After teasing the signing of Williams, for whom Barcelona has to activate a different release clause, this time of the value of € 58 million, Laporta explained to Marca that they could 'normally sign'.

“It is a source of satisfaction because we have worked hard at this time of economic recovery. Regarding the salary margin, we enabled us to comply with the 1: 1 rule that La Liga granted. Last year it was tight, but we achieved it, and now we are in this relationship, so we have signed Olmo and Pau Victor.”

“They have put a lot of obstacles on our road, but we have come there. We can normally sign and are no longer under the extra spending limitations of La Liga. We are almost an imminent signature, and we can still make a signature that we are enthusiastic about. They have put many obstacles on our way, but we comply with the regulations.”

On Wednesday, director of Football Deco and Bojan Krkic traveled to Ibiza, where Williams is on vacation, and he continued to promote his signing. Personal conditions are reportedly once with Williams and Laporta was positive about their economic situation and said that the work that has been done on their finances is finally seen.
