Joan Laporta, president of Barcelona, has stated that he believes that they will not be under increased limitations this summer with regard to the La Liga expenditure rules. Since the infamous economic levers were drawn, the Blaugrana has been in red with regard to their salary limit, except for a short period from January to April, but Laporta is optimistic again.
Cynics can indicate that this is the case every summer since the first time that Barcelona surpassed their salary limit, but Laporta explained that if the club was not for the losses sustained by the value reduction of Barca Vision – one of their economic levers – they would have been in black this season.
“The 1: 1 rule is determined by the LaLiga committee, and we will earn € 950 million this season. Next season the budget is more than € 1 billion and we are looking for more income than losing, so we have faith in a ratio of 1: 1 to reach. We already achieved positive ordinary results,” he explained from TV3.
Barcelona's salary limit can very well depend on their VIP chairs that Lease in Camp Nou, which brought € 100 million to the club's accounts. However, the Blaugrana were back in red after their auditors had removed that income from this year's accounts, although Barcelona wants to see the VIP chairs delivered before the end of June. The other unknown is whether La Liga will distribute the income for 30 years, the duration of the lease, amidst the suspicion of the ties between Barcelona and the companies that bought the lease on the 475 VIP chairs in Camp Nou.
One thing that should help their finances is a return to Camp Nou, where Laporta also expressed confidence. The stadium efficiency has been reduced at least 10 months, with the current return date in September.
“If there are no unforeseen events, we will be at the Spotify Camp Nou next season. We would start a pilot test with gamper stage in August. We are working on this assumption.”
Due to disagreements about a fine that must be paid, in the midst of other more political tensions, Barcelona has banned the fang groups of the Zangs section of Montjuic. Laporta confirmed that next season there were changes for a new zang section.
“There will be a singing area in the new Camp Nou. A space for 1500 people, suitable for this. We analyze the most suitable model for Barca. There is a long waiting list for those between 15 and 25 years old who can fit in this singing area and organize themselves.”
Many have accused Laporta of taking action against the singing section because of their protests against his leadership instead of their refusal to pay a fine of € 21k for racist behavior two seasons ago. The clubs of the supporters have claimed that if someone who is not the club, has to pay the fine, it must be the fans who have committed the crimes.
