Barcelona reach agreement with Robert Lewandowski over contract extension

Barcelona Vooruit Robert Lewandowski will stay in the club next season, which May comes. The Polish attacker, now in his third season in Catalonia, has found a second lease of life under Hansi Flick and is currently leading La Liga in the Pichichi race, with an advantage of three goals compared to Kylian Mbappe so far.

In general, Lewandowski has 31 goals and three assists in his 33 performances this season, and is occasionally deadly for the goal. However, it did not stop talking that Barcelona is looking for his replacement. The Veteran Hitman will be 37 when La Liga starts next season, and in recent months Flick has considered it suitable for resting and rotating him much more often.

Lewandowski would always earn an extension through a clause in his contract that would automatically extend his deal until 2026 if this season he participated in half of the team matches for at least 45 minutes. He would probably touch that figure this month, but MD says that Barcelona has agreed in advance an extension with Lewandowski.

They say that sports director Deco, President Joan Laporta and manager Hansi Flick all agreed on an extension for Lewandowski, who leads the Champions League scor cards with Serhou Guirassy on nine goals too. Lewandowski has rejected Saudi Arabia this summer and has often talked about his desire to stay in Barcelona and at the highest level of football for as many years as possible.

That has still done little to calm the conversation about Barcelona's search for his final replacement. This week alone, Barcelona is linked to Newcastle United Forward Alexander Isak, while Sporting CPs Viktor Gyokeres is cited as a potentially cheaper option at around € 65 million for his services. Sooner or later, Barcelona will have to make a movement, but splitting the playing time between two star number Nines will not be easy.
