Barcelona reach agreement with Serie A side for loan with option to buy for

Barcelona has agreed to send the young left back Alex Valle to Como in the Serie A on loan. The 20-year-old spent the first half of the Celtic campaign after a loan spell last year at Levante.

The young left back attracted attention in the previous season of the last season of Xavi Hernandez, who appeared on their tours to the US before he went to Levante last year. After a good first half of the campaign, he struggled to start after a change in manager. This year at Celtic he fought with Greg Taylor for the first team minutes, appears in 19 games and contributes 5 assists. In total he played 1,014 minutes under Brendan Rodgers.

However, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that that loan will be terminated, since Barcelona has reached a deal for Valle to use Cesc Fabegas' Como for the rest of the season. The deal also means the return of the former real Sociedad left back Kieran Tierney from Arsenal to Celtic, although it is not yet clear whether it will be now or in the summer.

In contrast to the deal at Celtic, Como has a purchase option at Valle. They can buy the defender at the end of the season for € 6 million if he makes a sufficient impression on them.

Valle was tipped as a potential prospect of the first team, but after he had renewed his deal until 2026 in August, Barcelona is probably confronted with a decision to give him a longer contract and a role next season, or look at The sale of him next summer. Sports director Deco has turned it into a policy to ensure that no player enters the last year of their deal, so each extension will have to come in the next six months, if his future will be defined in one way or another.

The Blaugrana recently announced a renewal until 2027 for left back Gerard Martin, and Hansi Flick trusted the former Cornella man as a backup of Alejandro Balde this season. The latter looks like he will be the starter for the nearby, and Valle may want more regular football.
