After weeks of conversations, Barcelona concludes a contract extension agreement with star defender Jules Kounde.
A new contract for the French defender prioritized in 2025 by the Catalan giants, in the midst of new transfer of the Premier League, but Barcelona continued to confide in retaining the 26-year-old.
The potential exit links were initially focused on Chelsea, who had chased Kounde during his time in Sevilla, with Arsenal also interested in the Bleus International lesson, but it was more recently in Manchester City to take him to England.
The negotiations have been performed in recent weeks with club officials who want to seal an agreement before the start of the 2025/26 season.
Barcelona has thrown their entire means behind a push to keep Kounde because they consider him the best back in the world.
In an earlier report that was emphasized by Semper Barca, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano gave his opinion on the situation by confirming that all parties were on the same page about a renewal.
The current deal of Kounde runs until 2027, but Barcelona wants to tie it up until 2030, and another update from Romano claims that they have now received a breakthrough.
He is expected to formally sign the paperwork next week when the team returns from South Korea, with a salary increase.
Kounde started last season 29 of the 38 La Liga matches of Barcelona – when the Hansi Flick team won the title – and the winner in La Blaugrana's Copa del Rey Final victory over Real Madrid in April.
His place in the starting XI of Flick is undisputed and the deeper numbers from last season are even more impressive.
He ended the campaign as the best Tackler in La Liga, with 43 won, and tackled more dribblers than all his teammates at 44.
Only Pau Cubarsi completed more competition minutes than he did in Flick's Backline.
