The winter break comes at a good time for Barcelona, who have won just one of their last seven matches in La Liga – that run was extended with a 2-1 home defeat to Atletico Madrid on Saturday. The transfer window will also open before they play again, although it is unlikely that any business will be done within Can Barca.
There will certainly be no signings as the club cannot afford to sign anyone. There has been speculation about a possible departure, and one player who could be on his way is Eric Garcia, whose fame has waned in recent months.
According to Sport, Barcelona have received offers for Garcia from Newcastle United, Girona and FC Porto. However, the player has no desire to leave mid-season and is only thinking about staying.
Barcelona would be open to selling Garcia if a good offer came along, but the player's attitude means a departure will almost certainly not happen. Instead, it could be something to look forward to next summer.
