Barcelona reject Chelsea swap deal for Fermin Lopez

Barcelona has made a solid transfer decision this summer in midfield star Fermin Lopez in the midst of Premier League interest in him.

The 22-year-old ODL started only 12 LA Liga matches in 2024/25, but still managed to score six league goals, as a rotation option for the Treble winners of Hansi Flick.

The speculation had reopened that, he could leave the club for the 2025/26 season, whereby Chelsea is said to follow him.

Enzo Maresca is looking for a new face in midfield after the blues has obtained a dramatic UEFA Champions League qualifying place.

According to earlier reports from El Chiringuito, Chelsea was willing to open transfer discussions, with Diario Sport stating that they had made an offer of € 75 million

The blues wanted to take advantage of the lack of action of the midfielder, while he keeps playing back to Dani Olmo in the plans of Hansi Flick, where Inter Milan also showed interest in 2025.

Despite the rumors, Lopez consistently rejected the talk about him who wants to leave with the star born in Huelva who also recently signed a new long -term contract that binds him to the club until 2029.

A new update from Mundo Deportivo indicates that Chelsea was willing to offer a player exchange to try to change Barcelona's position.

France International Christopher Nunku struggled during his Chelsea career with injuries and a great problem for the former RB Leipzig Forward.

However, Flick is determined not to let Lopez slip away instead of Nunku, because he appreciates his versatility and target threat, even though he is not a regular starter.

The overhanging uncertainty about Frenkie de Jong is also a factor in favor of Lopez with Barcelona who is not sure of the Dutchman's intentions, because his contract in Catalonia ends in 2026 with an extension offer that is not activated at this stage.
