After Nico Williams had rejected the chance to sign for Barcelona, the Catalan giants must reconsider their summer plans. A name that has emerged as a surprise option is Inter-Back Back Denzel Dumfries, which will be available at a reduced price for the next ten days.
Earlier this week it was reported that Dumfries had a release clause of € 25 million in the first half of July, and agent Jorge Mendes, who has strong ties with Barcelona, had offered him to the club. With the Williams Pursuit in full swing, Barcelona did not focus on the idea of bringing in a right back.
Reports in Italy from GDS (via Sport) explain that Mendes insists on getting the green light from Barcelona, with their ability to register the most important obstacle. However, that clause will expire on July 15, and if his price tag would rise to € 35 million or more, Barcelona would consider it too much.
However, they say that the interest in Dumfries is serious, something that is supported by Tancredi Palmieri. Nevertheless, a TuttoSport report says that Semper Inter is supported that the Nerazzurri is not concerned with the prospect of Dumfries who signs for Barcelona because of those financial issues.
After missing Williams, Barcelona was attended for a second attempt to sign Luis Diaz. That movement would probably use what Barcelona can make in their salary limit, but if the Blaugrana were to pursue a potential loan agreement with Marcus Rashford, that would give them more room for maneuver.
In that case, a movement seems more feasible for Dumfries. Yet this remains a hypothetical until their lease agreement of VIP chairs in Camp Nou has been approved and added to their salary limit.
