Barcelona has been desperately looking for funds in recent transfer windows, with little in the way of selling the sale and consistent salary limit struggle. However, they have started more money in recent years, with people like Julian Araujo, Mikayil Faye and Nico Gonzalez who are sold.
The next player who could help his former club is Jean-Clair Todibo. The Frenchman cost the Blaugrana only € 1 million back in 2019, and they would eventually sold it back to Ligue 1, who participated in Nice for a reimbursement of € 8.5 million, while retaining a sale of 20%.
That clause looks like it will be useful now. West Ham United signed Todibo last season on loan, with an option to buy. The hammers beat AC Milan to his signature and will now perform that option for € 42 million. It means that the 25-year-old will add an extra € 8.4 million to Barcelona's accounts, according to Sport (via Siempre Barca).
That deal will come in handy for Barcelona, who returned within their salary limit in January, but after their auditors have removed the rental agreement of € 100 million from 475 VIP seats, it struggles again. It probably means that large sale will be needed before the Blaugrana can consider investing or even registering new contracts.
The Todibo will be useful in that respect, with the total reimbursement for its services that are now up to slightly less than € 17 million. Especially when the director of Football Deco has to be considered to address new deals for stars Frenkie de Jong and Lamine Yamal this summer.
Barcelona has increasingly been part of their transfer strategy to go on players with a sales percentage, related to Real Madrid, although the latter always contains a 50% sales costs for players who they think they might want to sign. Faye is an example, just like Oscar Mingueza, who left for a free for Celta Vigo, but could be a source of income this summer, with a 50% clause in his deal.
