It is no secret that Barcelona is struggling with financial problems, but things should become easier. The club has made considerable efforts in recent years to reduce costs and previous debts are also starting to be arranged.
During the COVID-19 Pandemie, Barcelona voted delay with a number of players. Current stars Pedri and Ronald Araujo still receive money from this, and the same can be said for a number of stars that have already left.
Among them is Lionel Messi, who agreed to help Barcelona by postponing his wages until a later date. And as reported by Culemania (via Diario AS), he will receive his last payment on 30 June (Monday).
Messi, who is in action for Inter Miami against Paris Saint-Germain in the club World Cup on Sunday, receives € 5.95 million from Barcelona 24 hours later, and that will be the last payment he receives as part of the wage deferment process. Current teammates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba will also be paid as part of this for the last time, explaining the report that they will deliver € 1.18 million and € 943k respectively.
The aforementioned Pedri and Araujo, both of which signed new Barcelona contracts in 2025, will also receive their final wage postponement payments on Monday – the first will yield € 757K, while the Uruguayan defender will drop € 429k. Ansu Fati, who will be on loan next week as Monaco, and Inaki Pena also receives their final payments as part of this, after he also agreed wage expenditure in 2020.
In total, Barcelona will pay € 16 million to those who owe their final payments on 30 June, with others, including Samuel Umtiti (€ 1.2 million), Antoine Griezmann (€ 965K) and Ousmane Dembele (€ 643K). And on top of paying € 62 million to sign Nico Williams, what they intend to do by activating his release clause on Tuesday or Wednesday.
