In recent years, Barcelona has continued their sweep from rising decent talent, with another trip to Croatia. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blaugrana broke up a midfielder from Croatian football.
The Catalan giants have already agreed a deal for the Danish talent Roony Bardghji of Copenhagen, and their next arrival applies to be Lovro Chelfi. Romano explains that Barcelona has reached an agreement for the 18-year-old Chelfi to sign him of NK Kustosija in Croatia, and he will become a member of their Barca Atletic side next season.
As was the case with Bardghji, Barcelona was confronted with competition from all over Europe to sign the midfield prospect. Liverpool and Chelsea had scouted Chelfi in the course of this season, but Sport Note that Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund also wanted to sign Chelfi.
The deal costs Barcelona up to € 2 million, depending on variables, and this season he could be part of some of the senior training sessions, but he will not go on loan this year.
Chelfi originally came through the Academy of the Croatian Giants Dinamo Zagreb, but moved to Kustosija last summer to join their team under 19. This season he played 540 minutes for their under-19 side, scored once and also made his senior debut in the Croatian cup, with 81 minutes in two games.
He also appeared three times from the bank for the under-18 side of Croatia from the bank and once on the score sheet. More recently, he was also called for the Under-19 team.
Chelfi is just the newest part of Barcelona in Croatia, and more specifically with Kustosija.
