Barcelona Sporting Director Deco meets with agent of Kounde

Barcelona has had contract innovations and locks some of their most valuable assets for the coming years. Many of those deals were considered urgent, but now Sporting Director seems to go to other options.

The Blaugrana tied new deals for Gerard Martin, Ronald Araujo, Pedri and Gavi, with the last to visit Pau Cubarsi. The Brazilian-Portuguese did not stop there and earlier this week she also had informal conversations with the agent Ali Dursun by Frenkie de Jong, who is said to stay in the club.

Now Jeantes (via Sport) reports that Deco Aslo has met with the agent of the French defender Jules Kounde to discuss a contract extension. It is a movement that comes as a surprise, since Kounde is in their books until 2027, and it is noted that there is no hurry from both sides to get a deal. However, they opened discussions for a renewal, for a player who has become the key since signing, and a de facto choice in recent years right back.

The 26-year-old is beyond the will of Andreas Christensen, Inaki Pena, other Astralaga, Eric Garcia and Lamine Yamal jumped in terms of discussing his future. The latter gave an interview this week and indicated that his contract renewal would probably be done in the summer.

Christensen and Garcia were cited as a potential sale in the summer, while Barcelona is reportedly negotiating with Bayer Leverkusen -defender Jonathan Tah to arrive free of charge this summer. Manager Hansi Flick is said to be enthusiastic about Barcelona to introduce more established competition for Kounde this summer, where younger Hector Fort stays relatively unused on the bank. His three starts this season have all come as a result of disciplinary measures for Kounde.
