Barcelona star banned after inappropriate touching

Barcelona defender Maria 'Mapi' Leon received a suspension earlier this season for her actions, where she was accused of inappropriate touching during a match against City Rivals Espanyol. Leon has denied this.

During the 2-0 victory of Barcelona Femeni in Espanyol in February, Leon seemed to have hit the genitals of Espanyol player Daniela Caracas, while the two repressed before a set was broken. Leon would also have said something that she is also disrespectful, which she both denied.

In a statement by Leon, published by Barcelona, she claims that she has touched Caracas' leg, and that 'the images are clear'. She also denies at any time that the intimacy of another professional is in jail because it was supplied in a statement by Espanyol. This has been disputed by Espanyol, who describes the action as 'inadmissible and unacceptable' and says that they would support Caracas in every way of acting they decided to undertake.

So far, however, the Colombian football player has not taken any legal action against Leon, but Espanyol has filed a complaint with the competition committee. However, the disciplinary committee did this, as reported by RAC1. Leon was suspended by the competition committee for two games because of 'unsporting behavior', in which Barcelona's 6-0 victory over Atletico Madrid missed on Sunday. The 29-year-old will also be absent on Wednesday in their collision against Seville.

Leon and Barcelona appealed the opinion about the Administrative Tribunal for Sport (TAD), but were not successful, maintaining the prohibition. Caracas still has to give public comments on this matter.

So far, Barcelona has supported Leon in her version of events and no research has been conducted. Leon has been pronounced about sexism that was suffering from football in Spain and refused to return to the national team because of the treatment she received there during her time, which she claimed was inappropriate and unprofessional.
