Barcelona star on transfer window – ‘We’ve signed better than Real Madrid’

Barcelona brought only two players this summer – three including Barca Atletic Starlet Roony Bardghji – but playmaker Dani Olmo believes that they have done better work so far than their arch rivals. Real Madrid spent a big way this summer, with their four signing sessions for so far of € 167.5 million.

The Blaugrana again sweats on their salary limit to register players, but in theory the new season starts with Marcus Rashford under their attacking options and Joan Garcia in Doel. Speaking with Cadena Cope, Dani Olmo gave a positive assessment of their company.

“Madrid will also want the best, so in that sense it is very good. We are also strengthened, and even better, I would say.”

“Ultimately, all teams bring changes in the summer, in winter, to the transfer markets. In that sense, we don't mind if they sign or add players; in the end we have to concentrate on what of us is,” noted Olmo on a big summer for Athletico Madrid.

Barcelona spent € 25 million in Garcia this summer and raised Rashford from Manchester United. The English attacker is supposed to cost the Blaugrana € 14 million gross salary, but those are the only additions to the Hansi Flick team. The outputs of Pau Victor, Alex Valle and Pablo Torre mean that Barcelona has spent a net € 2 million.

In the meantime, € 167.5 million consists of four players for Real Madrid: Alvaro Carreras (€ 50 million), Dean Huijsen (€ 60m) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (€ 10m). Franco Mastantuono will arrive on 14 August for € 45 million, although some reports have the total costs at € 63 million, including taxes. Xabi Alonso has a new lookout backline at its disposal. Los Blancos has only introduced a reimbursement of € 2 million for Alvaro Rodriguez, equal to a net expenditure of € 165.5 million.

Atletico Madrid has spent a great deal for a second summer in a row, with eight additions, including Clement Lenglet and Juan Musso's loan movements that are made permanently. Their total expenditure is € 153 million, but after having sold Samuel Lino, Santiago Mourino, Rodrigo Riquelme, Angel Correa and completing a deal for Arthur Vermeren for € 68 million, their net spending € 85 million.
