Barcelona-star Pau Cubarsi has sustained injury to the Spain obligation in La Roja's 2-2 UEFA Nations League-equal game in the Netherlands.
Nico Williams scored early in Rotterdam, but the Dutch got back with goals on either side of the break, before Mikel Merino yielded a late equalizer.
A draw imposes the game for a second seed fight in Valencia on Sunday evening with both parties racing to reach the last series in June.
Cubarsi was enforced just before the break after he had not shaken any injury after a heavy challenge from Memphis Depay.
The fans of Spain and Barcelona were immediately concerned about the sight of Cubarsi that was helped outside the field by the Spain's medical staff.
He was replaced by Dean Huijsen, who kept an eye on his senior debut, and De La Fuente confirmed an ankle disease with his participation in the second stage.
“It's his ankle, it's a sprain. We want to try to restore him on Sunday and we will see how things are going in the coming days,” according to Marca.
“It doesn't seem too serious, but there are only a few days to recover, we have to be careful.”
De La Fuente is expected to offer an update on the situation in the next 48 hours, after tests for Cubarsi, with Mario Gila already called as a cover option.
It is a benchmark for how important 18-year-old now is for Club and Land that De La Fuente could lose a certain starter from his team.
Barcelona will be back in La Liga on March 27 in their registration with Osasuna after a decision on a new date.
The club initially asked a different date to enable their players to return from international service, but the calendar is too full in this phase of the season.
