Barcelona have expressed surprise at reports of a deal with Juventus for Ronald Araujo, but it appears the Uruguayan defender is eyeing an exit. The 25-year-old has 18 months left on his contract and the Blaugrana must secure a new contract or sell him in the summer at the latest.
According to Marca, Barcelona are 'surprised' by reports of an agreement between Araujo and Juventus, despite admitting that he is unhappy with his current contract and their attempts to extend his deal. It is not out of the question that the Blaugrana may have an informal chat with Araujo while in Saudi Arabia for the Spanish Super Cup to find out his intentions. Although the club have returned within their salary cap, they are hoping to avoid a major increase in their wage bill.
Yet MD says that concerns are increasing at the Catalan club. Araujo has reportedly confirmed to his teammates that he plans to leave the club in the January transfer window.
