Barcelona Starlet Hector Fort has been in the headlines last week or two and is now the target of hateful abuse online. The 18-year-old, who cuts his teeth into the first team of Blaugrana, was depicted with Drag Queen and Lgbtqia+ activist Brigitte Lamoure.
During last weekend's 4-3 victory over Celta Vigo, Fort responded with frustration after he stayed on the couch and a hug from manager Hansi Flick refused. The German manager then had a word in his ear, but criticized Fort's behavior in his press conference on Monday.
However, Fort would have the opportunity he was looking for on Tuesday and a solid display from Left-Back against RCD Mallorca, before he came after 77 minutes. It should be noted that after the victory of Barcelona over Celta Vigo, forward Borja Iglesias complained about homophobic abuse of Culers in the aftermath. Now Fort has suffered the same fate.
On March 28, Fort was present at the International Sport Solidarity Gala, the 20th of its kind, an organization that offers subsidies and opportunities to marginalized children. He was depicted with Lamoure in his arms and during the week the Barcelona -based Drag Queen placed the photo with the caption 'Resurrection Sunday'.
That post was confronted with a number of homophobic comments that focus on Fort and questioned his sexuality. However, it is a strong conviction of various organizations and Barcelona fans, including the Observatory against LGBTI-Phobia in Catalonia.
“Thank you very much for writing and support. It is a shame that there is so much hatred. But this should help us to continue to fight for a free, secular, diverse and inclusive society,” Lamoure herself wrote on her Twitter/X account.
According to ARA (via Marca), Barcelona has also convicted the abuse and say: “FC Barcelona always and everywhere condemn homophobic attitudes in society and sport.” Fort itself has not publicly given comments here.
