Barcelona to be given reprieve on stadium drama by Rolling Stones

Barcelona has gone through a number of solutions this season for their lack of a permanent house, and it seemed that at some point they might have to take their games outside the city. Although it seems that they will get a delay.

The Spotify Camp Nou remains in construction, without a fixed date for their returns. The plan was to return to their home country in November, with a capacity of 60,000 fans, while the work on the third layer continues. That date was pushed back three times, but they hoped to be back before the end of the season in May, which coincides with El Clasico, currently on 11 May.

Bouwbedrijf Limak has Barcelona's guarantees that Camp Nou will be ready on time for their largest home game of the year, but without a guarantee they looked at alternatives. The Estadi Olimpic Lluis Company, where they have played for the past 18 months, was planned to organize a series of concerts in May, which was negotiated with the Barcelona city council. Although they had granted Barcelona extensions on their lease for Montjuic, the Rolling Stones would be planned for dates in May, which forbade the use of the stadium by Barcelona.

A post from Bjornulf Vik, as quoted by Joan Fontes, has claimed that the Rolling Stones tour in Europe, which was never officially confirmed, will now be canceled. As such, this would free up Montjuic for Barcelona to keep using it. Both the Stones tour and its cancellation are still not confirmed at this stage, so Barcelona cannot count their blessings yet.

It was previously reported that Barcelona could consider taking the Clasico against Real Madrid to a stadium abroad to maximize income, although President Joan Laporta apparently was against this idea and even played it on the Barcelona training field.
