Barcelona will be hoping to return to the 1:1 return in La Liga before next summer's transfer window opens in early July. If they finally succeed, their efforts to strengthen Hansi Flick's roster will be more likely to be successful.
The planning for the transfer period is already in full swing and is led by sporting director Deco. He has been in contact with Flick about this and according to Sport, the two agree that it is a priority for the club to sign one new right-back and one new left-back.
Full-back is an area where Barcelona have struggled in recent seasons. Jules Kounde was great on the right, but the expectation is that he will eventually be deployed as a centre-back again. On the left, Alejandro Balde is a nailed-on starter because he doesn't have enough competition.
It remains to be seen who Barcelona choose next summer, but Flick and Deco will be determined to ensure the signings are as good as they can be under the circumstances.
