Barcelona ‘very advanced’ with free agent signing – report
Barcelona and Real Madrid have both dabbled in the free agent market more in recent years than for much of the 21st century, but when it became clear that Jonathan Tah would be available there was a good chance he was always going to be courted created by the European elite. The Bayer Leverkusen defender will expire next summer and Bayern Munich is also after him.
Tah has decided not to renew his contract with Die Werkself and according to El Chiringuito, Barcelona are 'very advanced' in negotiations with the Germany international. They consider him a top opportunity on the transfer market and have therefore decided to make a move.
It should be noted that while they are considered leading contenders alongside Bayern and Madrid, this is the first time reports of actual talks have been reported. Sporting director Deco recently distanced himself from the Catalan giants' signing of Tah, but it wouldn't be the first time a deal has contradicted his public discourse. Tah won't make his decision until 2025.
