Barcelona will not sell PL target this summer unless irrefutable offer arrives

Barcelona is expected to be busy this summer, but recent developments mean that they have to sell to sign their preferred goals. And one of the possible candidates who could have been one of the market will not be now, it has been decided.

That player is Frenkie de Jong, who has turned his fortune in recent months. In the first half of the season, it was taken for granted that the Dutch midfielder Barcelona would leave in the summer, given that he was considered a team player by head coach Hansi Flick. But now he is an ordinary starter and is in Flick's “Gala XI” for Marc Casado and Gavi.

De Jong has currently been contracted as Barcelona until the end of next season, and that is why his future has been so widely speculated in recent months. However, the club's plan is to offer him a new deal in the coming weeks, with sports director Deco to lead negotiations. And now it says relevant that he should not leave Catalonia this summer, unless an offer would arrive “extraordinary”.

Even if De Jong is not extended before the summer, Barcelona is planning to announce that he is not transferable, unless an irrefutable offer would come in. This is bad news for Liverpool and Arsenal, both of whom have considered a move during the upcoming transfer window.

It makes sense for Barcelona to keep De Jong, because he has been very impressive in recent months. He must sign a new contract and it is important that this deal contains a considerable wage reduction, since the club cannot afford to continue to pay him the salary that he is currently earning because of their well -documented financial problems.
