Barcelona have been a goalscoring machine this season and the attacking trident of Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha has been productive. It is the latter that has perhaps been the most impressive of the three, especially considering his future at the club looked uncertain last summer.
In recent years, Raphinha has been regularly linked with a move away from Barcelona. Clubs in the Premier League and Saudi Arabia have made moves, but the Brazilian just wanted to stay put, and for that he has been rewarded this season with many world-class performances that have elevated his status.
There is no doubt that Raphinha, who scored twice against Benfica on Tuesday to take his target for the season to 22, is considered an indispensable player in Hansi Flick's squad and his contract will soon reflect that.
As reported by MD, it is clear to Barcelona that Raphinha deserves a new contract, and there are plans for him to be offered one sometime in 2025. His current contract expires in 2027, so the club wants to avoid any danger of a forced departure. by securing his future as quickly as possible, as they did with Pedri and Ronald Araujo.
For now, Raphinha and Barcelona are focused on achieving a strong second half of the season, so it's likely these contract talks will be postponed until the summer – there's less time pressure compared to deals for Pedri and Araujo, both of whom see their current deals ending in 2026 expire.
A new contract for Raphinha will be very well deserved, there is no doubt about that. He has been in spectacular form this season and a new contract will keep him at the Catalan club for as long as they need him.
