Barcelona have started talks with a number of key players this season, with thirteen players out of contract in 2026 or sooner. One of them is Andreas Christensen, but there has been no communication with his agents about a new deal so far.
The Danish defender played a starring role in his first season as the Blaugrana won the league title, but he was hampered by injuries last year and spent part of the season in midfield towards the end of the Xavi Hernandez era. This year he has been out since the first match due to an Achilles tendon problem.
Christensen is currently focused on his recovery and the club also wants him to return first before thinking about anything else. Barcelona believe there will be time to discuss his future, and Christensen has no plans to leave in January or next summer, but Marca say there is no certainty where he will be after 2026. That doesn't mean Barcelona aren't considering an extension, but so far they have yet to make a decision.
