Barcelona’s 3-0 win over Osasuna could be forfeited as LaLiga leaders are accused of breaking little-known FIFA rule

Barcelona is said to be punished after being accused of the surplus of the FIFA regulations in their 3-0 victory over Osasuna.

After his return of the international break, the managerial leaders of Hansi Flick continued where they had stayed, gaining a comfortable victory to remain three points free from Real Madrid at the top of the table.

The hosts seemed to be Inigo Martinez without a veteran center after the 33-year-old was forced to withdraw from an international duty due to injury earlier this week and was replaced by Dean Huijsen van Bournemouth.

Martinez was eventually able to play the full 90 minutes on Thursday evening, while goals Ferran Torres, Dani Olmo and Robert Lewandowski Barca saw all three points collecting.

Subsequent reports from Spain have claimed that Martinez's involvement could see the Catalan club fall into the FIFA rules.

Osasuna has since started a legal investigation and, according to Cope, is considering submitting a complaint about the potential infringement.

The FIFA regulations state that if a player is forced to withdraw from the international duty, he may not represent their clubs until at least five days after the last match of the international break.

The victory of Barcelona on Thursday came only four days after Spain defeated the Netherlands to reach the semi -final of the Nations League.

However, the rule does not apply if a player is officially deleted by the chairman of the football club, in this case the RFEF.

Despite the potential that the game is forfeited for Barca Fielding a non -intended player if a potential attraction is successful, individual reports from Spain claim that the club is not worried about the issue.

The incident only marks the newest controversy to influence the Blaugrana this season.

Laliga is governed by strict financial laws that Barcelona have struggled in particular to register players without a compromise in the past seasons while they continue to fight against a financial crisis.

As such, Barca was previously prevented from expanding the registration for Olmo and teammate Pau Victor because they had surpassed their assigned salary limit, with the added danger that OLMO could leave for free if they were not registered.

In January, the club received a precautionary measure from the Higher Sports Council (CSD) so that they could temporarily register both OLMO and Victor.
