Barcelona confirmed that left back Alejandro Balde has sustained a left hamstring injury prior to an important series of games.
On Tuesday, the Laliga leaders will face Borussia Dortmund in the second stage of the Champions League quart final, after a huge 4-0 victory in Barcelona in the first, with the Copa del Rey-final against Real Madrid that takes place on 26 April.
Spanish media reports say that Balde will be off at least three weeks to recover, which would also see him miss League matches against Celta Vigo and Real Mallorca.
He started on Saturday with the 1-0 victory of Barcelona on Leganes, but was forced in the 41st minute after storing the injury.
Balde has made 43 performances this season in all competitions for Barcelona, starting with 39 of those competitions. He has scored one goal and offered eight assists, where only Raphinha (20) and Lamine Yamal (17) set up more (Fermin Lopez and Jules Kounde also have eight).
“Tests performed on Sunday morning on the first team player Alejandro Bald confirm that he has a distal injury on his left hamstring,” Barcelona said in a statement.
“His return to action with the first team will depend on his recovery.”
Barcelona led Laliga with 70 points, seven for Real Madrid, who play their play in his hand against Deportivo Alaves on Sunday.
