Barcelona midfielder Gavi has missed a place in the Spain team that will meet this month in the two-legged quarter-finals of the Nations League this month.
The 20-year-old returned to action for his club last October after almost a year because of a front cruciate ligament injury and was expected to make an international comeback in their upcoming last-like draw, to be played between 20 and 23 March.
The Spain coach Luis de la Fuente, however, left the midfielder, who played a crucial role to help them win the Nations League in 2023.
In the meantime, there is a place for Raul Asencio in the team while the Real Madrid defender earns his first senior call-up, while Barca defender Inigo Martinez is also admitted after they have not been included in their victory Euro 2024 campaign.
“Raul had a fantastic season. He had been in lower divisions, but some players accelerate their development,” said De La Fuente.
Asencio, 22, has made 14 Laliga and eight Champions League performances this season.

Marco Asensio, who scored seven goals in eight performances for Aston Villa on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, is also not in the Roster.
“There are many good players on this list. It is a reflection of the high level of Spanish football. Unfortunately, some are not included, but others are,” said the Spain boss.
“We have formed a super national team and in my opinion this is the best list that can now be made.
In the meantime, Dutch boss Ronald Koeman has reminded himself of Memphis Depay, who this season has two goals and four assists in 10 performances for Brazilian side Corinthians this season, while defender Matthijs de Ligt is also included in the Orange party.
But De Ligt's Manchester United teammate Joshua Zirkzee is not included, while Stefan de Virj, Nathan Ake and Micky van de Ven are also absent.
