Barcelona’s set-piece effectiveness underlined with impressive statistic

Since Hansi Flick was appointed head coach in the summer, Barcelona has become one of the best teams in Europe. Their attacking play has been supplemented in a big way, which is understandable as they have scored 66 goals in just 21 games in all competitions. However, they have also been effective on defense.

In concrete terms, emphasis is now being placed on their ability to defend set pieces well. According to MD, Barcelona have yet to concede a corner this season, despite conceding almost 100-98, to be precise. Since the start of the campaign in August, 22 goals have been conceded, but none have come directly from a corner.

This statistic is even more impressive when you consider that the first-team squad is not particularly large, meaning Flick's tactical setup was spot on. Barcelona will be hoping they remain faultless in this regard as they look to have a very successful season.
