Barcelona are interested in signing Marcus Rashford and want to get a deal done quickly for two reasons.
The United striker is keen to take on a new challenge after a difficult spell at Old Trafford and has been ruled out of Ruben Amorim's last eight Red Devils side. The club are keen to facilitate his departure, although Rashford's £325,000-a-week salary means a loan deal is not easy.
The 27-year-old's representatives have met with Barca leaders, while talks are also said to have taken place with Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan. The latter are said to have even set a deadline by which Rashford had to make his decision.
Rashford is said to have favored a move to La Liga, making Barcelona a leading candidate. Now the Catalan team could take action quickly.
Barcelona want to make a quick deal to prevent Borussia Dortmund from beating out Rashford's signature, per SPORT. Hansi Flick is also keen to land Rashford and is a big admirer.
La Liga's financial constraints mean a deal won't necessarily come together easily. It is said that Barcelona would have to facilitate an exit for Ansu Fati if Rashford were to arrive at Camp Nou.
The 22-year-old winger has only started once this season, after spending time on loan at Brighton last year. The 22-year-old has struggled with injuries in recent years after becoming Barca's youngest ever goalscorer in 2019 before his record was broken by Lamine Yamal.
Rashford was absent from United's defeat to Brighton this week and may have already played his last game for his boyhood club. The academy product has failed to adapt to Amorim's plans, despite the new boss managing just two Premier League wins in 10 games.
Last week, head coach Amorim admitted that this would not be the case if the striker were to represent the club again. “I don't know, we'll see,” Amorim said.
“He is a player for Manchester United. We will see. He has to work. He has to represent this club and he loves this club, but I have to make choices.” [I] already talked about how I make the choices. So it is what it is. So let's continue. Let's look at the next game. And like I said, I have to make a selection.”
